Electric Fluke tenor ukulele (photos)
Adding pics for the previously listed ad (below). These pics aren't great, but they give you some idea. The swirly-brushed charcoal grey aluminum top looks far cooler in person!
Let me know if you would like better pics and I'll try to take some in better light.

Custom Keith Ogata Electric Tenor Ukulele
Beautiful custom Keith Ogata Electric Tenor ukulele. Keith has been building custom ukuleles here in Hawaii for over twelve years and this is his newest addition.
Top and back veneer is made of master grade curly maple wood and the body is made of solid mahogany wood. The neck is also made of mahogany.
The "wings" are Honduras mahogany with flame maple top and back. the pickups are single coil magnetic numbers housed in maple, positioned "tele" style. there are individual volume controls for the neck / bridge pickups and a master tone control. it has a balance bridge that's height adjustable and the DR steel strings are strung through the body.
The ‘オ’ on the headstock is the Japanese character for the phonetic sound ‘O’ as in Ogata. This symbol is branded into the headstock of each ukulele and was something passed down to Keith over three generations. The character has always been the symbol of the family business. Keith’s grandfather, who had initially requested the brand to be made, owned a small business in Hawaii selling handcrafted Japanese ‘Geta’ or ‘wooden sandals’ on which he would burn this symbol into each sandal. This tradition has continued for three generations beginning with Japanese ‘Geta’ and continuing on in its tradition with beautiful custom ukuleles.

Do You Play the Uke? Then show your Pride! I once read that, "you can not make a beautiful sound with an instrument you are ashamed of". I think thats true, and thats why I made these stickers. They look just like the ones you see on European cars, but a little smaller. They say "UKE" and under that in smaller print, "Ukulele Player" They are 4.25" by 2.72" oval weatherproof vinyl. These stickers, My CD's Ukuleles, Tiki's and more neat stuff are available on my website, just go to http://www.tikiking.com and follow the links to the Uke stuff. The stickers are also available by simply sending $2.00 (for each sticker) or $20 for a dozen, along with a SASE to: Tiki King Uke Stickers, P.O. Box 345, Felton, CA. 95018. Concert Spruce/Mahogany Ukulele
Here is a concert size ukulele that was completed in September 2004. The serial number is 218. I have been using this uke as my personal player, but find most of the time I am playing the uke I have just completed. It's an excellent player and I am ready to pass it on to a good home. The uke has been very well cared for. It has no wear, dings or scratches of any kind. This uke features some special dark tobacco sunburst lacquer finish. The top is spruce and the back and sides are Honduran mahogany. The binding is white vinyl with a multi-layer b/w top purfling. The sound hole rosette is also a mulit-layer b/w vinyl. The neck is Honduran mahogany with a graphite truss rod for strength and stability. The fingerboard and bridge are ebony. Fret markers are a combination of MOP and abalone block inlays. White side dots are included. The nut and compensated bridge saddle are polished bone. The bridge pins are white colored plastic. The Black Bear logo on the headplate is MOP shell inlaid into ebony with a maple ring. The frets are slightly larger than standard. There are 12 frets to the body, 17 in all. The tuning pegs are specially made 5 Star Planet brand, with a 4:1 gear ratio for fast and very accurate tuning, with handmade white bone knobs. Aquila brand strings are used. This uke is finished with several coats of nitrocellulose lacquer, hand rubbed to a high gloss look. The uke's dimensions are as follows; Body length is 11 3/8", upper width is 6 1/8", lower width is 8", depth is 2 3/8" upper and 3" lower. Overall length is 24 1/4". The back is nicely arched in both directions for excellent projection. The playing scale is 15". Easy low playing action with a nice medium feel to the neck for playing comfort. Comes with a black hard shell, plush lined case. This is a one-of-a-kind uke made in the USA by Black Bear Ukuleles in Yakima, WA. It is labeled, signed, numbered and dated. Limited life time warranty to the new owner. I will allow 48 for your approval; satisfaction is guaranteed. Buyer pays $25.00 S&H&I in USA. Postal money order or bank draft, please.

Polk-A-Lay-Lee
This is the cooler, more obscure cousin/copy of the Swagerty Treholipee. I see one of these for every twenty Swagertys and this one is actually a player. It strung low G and I've used it with a pickup in a band. It actually sounds good considering how bizarre the concept. The replacement bridge is custom made ebony with a bone saddle and is adjustable to get proper intonation. The paddle tuners are perfect and tune smoothly. This Polk-A-Lay-Lee is an object of cultural curiosity and artistic merit that can come down off the wall and be played! It's got some surface wear but no breaks or chips.

Kamaka Soprano @1960
This is a very cute, very playable little Kamaka with a loud clear voice. It stay in tune better than any uke I own.If you know these instruments from the Gold Label period, you know that they were made simply, with no frills but are truly great players. The Koa is curly and well figured. Top and back are one piece and hand carving is evidenced on the sides and heel(very nice touch). It has had a small tight crack repaired on the bottom edge that is barely visible, has no effect on playability or sound and would not photograph.
I take PayPal. Uke will be insured and shipped professionally at cost.

Gretsch (50s?)
PRICE UPDATE:
Ok, it's no beauty queen but it sounds great. Gretsch mahogany soprano with nice action, dead straight neck, great intonation but weird surface blemishes on headstock and bouts (seems like finish was in contact with something in a hot environment). There is also a tiny crack between soundhole and fingerboard. I bought it site unseen about a year ago on big online auction site and it arrived without a bridge (seller "forgot" to mention). Mounted a similar vintage bridge but that left action too low so I then added a rosewood saddle. Actual glue area is smaller than the original bridge so you could add the old standard Gretsch bridge (from which strings will invariably pull out). Slight separation of back from sides which will require just a dab of glue -- it sounds great as is so I never got around to it. A uke with a big heart!

Bearclaw spruce/walnut new hand-built Concert 'Ukulele
This 'ukulele is sold. I will be listing number three in the series in about a week. This is a brand new custom hand-built concert 'ukulele. She is number 2 in a series of 5. I had a beautiful piece of curly claro walnut that I was able to get backs and sides for 5 concert ukes. The five are very similar in that they are spruce/walnut but each is made individual by the details. On Number 2 the soundboard is bearclaw spruce with claro walnut lining the soundhole. The sides and back are curly claro walnut and the bindings are mango wood. The neck is Honduras Mahogany and the fretboard and bridge are rosewood. There are position markers at 3/5/7/10/12 on the fretboard face. The headstock overlay is rosewood. She has geared chrome tuners. She is built with a spanish heel and has a Tru-oil finish. She has a lively sound but still very warm. Not as bright as spruce/maple combination. Not as mellow as spruce/koa or spruce/mahogany combination. She's a happy medium between bright and warm. She has decent volume and a nice, comfortable action. I'd really like to sell her here on Fleamarket so please feel free to ask me questions or make an offer. If you'd like a uke different than this one, I would love to build it for you. If your combinations are something I have in my shop, all the better. I have plenty of plain Koa, limited amount of curly Koa, curly maple, monkey pod, spruce, mahogany, sycamore, mango, etc. Thanks for your interest and hope to hear from you. Best regards, Lori

Electric Fluke tenor ukulele
FS: An electric tenor fluke with a grey-colored top. These are pretty rare I think. It's got a Fishman transducer under the saddle and takes a 9V battery. Has volume and tone knobs but no soundhole. Sounds great plugged in. Has Worth strings on it, which give better balance between the strings (3rd string was too hot with stock Hilo-type strings). Exc+ condition with Fluke padded gigbag. $300 + s/h.

Martin Style 0
This is a wonderful Martin Style 0 that is in excellent condition, but for a ding on the lower bout, bass side (please see pictures below). There are some nicks and scuffs, but so few, they're barely noticeable. The sound is bright and loud and classic Martin. The case that is included is most likely a violin case, but the Martin fits nicely in it and it's a quality hard shell.

Am looking to trade a Carvin mint condition AE185 Koa acoustic electric guitar for a high end ukulele. This guitar has a Koa body, tortise shell body binding, abalone block fret markers, sperzel locking tuners, Dunlop strap locks and is as stated in mint condition. This model is a semi hollowbody and is in the Telecaster family of body style much like a 69 thinline without the pickgaurd, it also has two inputs so you can plug into an acoustic amp for the under saddle L.C. Braggs and a standard amp for the dual Alan Holdsworth humbuckers. There is a blending pot to combine all three pickups. This guitar has incredible sound and one of best necks Ive ever played. New this guitar cost $1550.00 comes with a case and you can see it this model on the Carvin website. Local So Cal trades only.

Pono PKT Solid Koa Tenor Ukulele
In order to fund another FMM purchase, I must sell my Pono Koa Tenor. This one has been a good friend, and I'm sad to see it go.
The model is PKT, made before they had a "1" or "2" designation. In terms of adornments, it's somewhere in between the current PKT-1 and PKT-2, with binding binding on the top and back. The koa on both sides is bookmatched in a cool arrow/chevron pattern, and it's all solid woods, of course. The first Ponos were shipped with gigbags, but I bought a Ko'olau hardshell case separately to protect this instrument. It has some marks and residue from a couple of stickers as you can see from the photos, but better the case than the uke, right? Also, it has a flaw in the lid where it's kind of "wavy" (also in the photos). This doesn't affect the function of the case. It still opens and closes the way it should. The case key is also included.
This is a very nice uke--easy to play with a beautiful tone. I'd keep it if at all possible, but I'm sticking to my policy of buy one, sell one.
I'm selling this uke for $375, which I think is a very good price for a solid koa tenor with hardshell case. Right now, I can only sell locally (I live in San Gabriel, just south of Pasadena). But I'll have a shipping box when my new-to-me uke arrives next week. If you're not local, please get in touch if you're interested and I'll contact you when I have the shipping box available. Shipping cost is additional, but I've shipped to a few places using USPS or FedEx Ground and it's always been pretty reasonably priced.

Compass Rose Sycamore Tenor Ukulele w. Pickup, Hardcase, and Herco Humidifier -- PRISTINE!
I'm selling a fantastic Compass Rose Sycamore Tenor ukulele. It has all the features and sweetness of tone that Rick Turner's ukes are known for. And the sycamore wood looks just beautiful. I bought this uke late in 2007. It has been very lightly played and is in A+ condition -- no issues of any kind. It is just not quite right for my playing style, but anyone who likes a really low action will be thrilled. I got the uke from Gary at Western Guitars. He sent it to me "pick-up" ready. What that means is that the uke originally came with the super high quality D-TAR pickup, but Gary couldn't sell it with the $200 premium for the pickup. So he removed it and sold me the uke without a pickup. Rick's shop had alread done all the drilling and saddle prep for a pickup. So I bought a uke pickup from Ko'olau (I believe it is a modified L.R. Baggs) for $70 and "installed" it no problem. It sounds great through the pickup! I paid $700 for the uke + $70 for the pickup. The uke originally came with a gigabag, but I am including a hard case and a Herco humidifier. This is a great deal! Snatch it before I put it up on ebay next weekend.

Blue Star Konablaster electric baritone uke
This Konablaster is like new except I added strap buttons (it's weird that it didn't come with them). I've used it for recording and it sounds great. Nice action, easy player, great sound. I would consider a trade for a tenor or plectrum banjo. I have a nice case that is too big for it, but works with extra padding. It has steel strings. Very light weight and comfortable to play. These are hard to get ... Elderly Instrument sells them, but are usually out of stock. They are hand made in Michigan. I just listed this on Ebay with a starting price of $200 and buy it now for $250.
Price: On Ebay $250 buy it now

1920's Martin Style 1 Soprano Uke w/Pegheds
1920's Martin Soprano Ukulele, Style 1 with rosewood binding and maple(?) purfling on top. All solid mahogany with a rosewood fretboard. Original bar frets. This uke has 12 frets total, and microdots at 5, 7, and 10th frets.
4:1 planetary geared Pegheds installed (Pegheds look like ebony violin tuning pegs, and are the about the same weight as the original wood pegs). Also includes the original rosewood violin pegs, and since the pegholes weren't modified when the Pegheds were installed, you can easily convert back to the original wood pegs.
Very good condition and an excellent player with great volume! Minimal fret or fretboard wear. Has an ugly crack on top that has been professionally repaired with cleats and is completely stable and structurally sound.
Currently strung re-entrant with Aquila strings. No matter what strings you put on this ukelele, it'll bark! Really nice ringing overtones for a fat tone.
When you hear this uke, you'll know what they mean by that vintage Martin sound.
$595 without case, or
$660 with a brand new Fremont locking hardshell case - FREE shipping to the continental USA.
OR I might consider a TRADE or TRADE + CASH. A Larrivee spruce top concert or
soprano ukulele, or a Eckhaus spruce top Stadelele concert uke, are high on my want list. I'm also looking for a wood bodied resonator concert or soprano uke.
This is being listed again because the fellow I sold it to was laid off and he asked me if he could return it. Normally, all sales are final, but his case was exceptional.
I have a number of other instruments for sale too, including:
*** a brand new Koaloha KSM-02 Long Neck Soprano with UPGRADED Grover open back geared tuners + case,
*** a Kiwaya KSL-2 Long Neck Koa Soprano ukelele with K-Wave gigbag,
*** a Kanile'a Spruce and Koa Baritone uku with ProTec hardshell case,
*** and a Mele Mahogany & Spruce 8-String Tenor uke with Cutaway and hardshell case.
I also have a Saga open back Pony Banjo, a 2-row Hohner Vienna Button Box Accordion in C/G, and a Blue Lion Chromatic Bass Dulcimer. All my instruments are in excellent playing condition!
If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, come on over and try 'em out!

SOLD!!! - Kanilea Custom Super Concert Uke w/Case - Spruce & Koa - Sell or Trade
I have a Kanilea custom super concert ukulele in like-new condition that I'd like to sell or trade! It has a Concert sized body with a tenor scale neck. All solid woods - sitka spruce top that has the most heavily figured bearclaw I have ever seen. The spruce has a rich golden color - I have never thought of spruce as a beautiful wood until I saw the spruce on this Kanilea.
Nicely flamed koa back, with relatively plain, but still very lovely, koa sides. Showy flamed koa peghead overlay. Curly koa inlay rosette. Gold open back geared Grover tuners.
This is a customized K-3 model with upgraded features, including
************* curly myrtle binding around top and back,
************* rope purfling on top and along the center seam on the back,
************* ebony fretboard and tie-bridge,
************* black Tusq nut and saddle.
Gloss finish, approximately 17" scale, 14 frets to the body, 19 total frets. Paua shell side position dots at 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15th frets.
The craftsmanship is impeccable except for a small area where the finish is a little uneven on the right hand lower bout of the spruce top. You can see it if you angle the ukulele just right - I never noticed it until now while examining it for sale. In any case, a beautiful and beautifully made instrument!
Low action with excellent intonation and playability. Can be strung with concert strings for a lower string tension, or with tenor strings for the higher string tension common to tenors. Currently strung Low G with Aquila concert strings. A new set of low G Aquila tenor strings is also included.
Broad tonal palette with very good dynamics from loud to soft. Excellent projection and lovely sustain. Beautiful tone that will open up even more as it gets played. The ukulele has been played only |
