KoAloha UkeSA Tenor Pops' Pineapple Sunday Solid Acacia Ukulele
Beautiful and increasingly hard-to-find Pops / UkeSA Pineapple Sunday solid-acacia tenor ukulele, designed by KoAloha founder Alvin “Pops” Okami.
This is the solid-acacia version of Pops' distinctive Pineapple Sunday design, featuring the pineapple-shaped body and five-point crown headstock, engraved double-line pineapple pattern across the soundboard, pineapple headstock inlay, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and custom pineapple-logo tuners.
The instrument has particularly attractive figuring in the acacia, especially across the upper bout, headstock and back. The grain changes dramatically with the light.
Features include:
Solid acacia top, back and sides
Tenor-scale neck / 20-fret fingerboard
Mahogany neck
Ebony fingerboard
Ebony bridge
Maple diamond/pineapple-eye fret markers
TUSQ nut and saddle
Double-line engraved pineapple pattern
Pineapple Sunday five-point crown headstock
Pineapple wood headstock inlay
Pineapple-logo geared tuners
Satin finish
Also included is the pictured Ohana hard case, a substantial upgrade over a standard gig bag and an excellent fit for storing and transporting the instrument.
The Pineapple Sunday was conceived by Alvin “Pops” Okami, founder of KoAloha. This solid-acacia version was produced as a more affordable counterpart to Pops' Hawaiian-made koa Pineapple Sunday instruments while retaining his wonderfully unconventional design.
Condition: Excellent
Please examine the photographs, which are of the actual instrument. I am happy to provide additional photographs or measurements.
A distinctive and difficult-to-find ukulele for a player, KoAloha/Pops collector, or anyone who appreciates unusual Hawaiian-inspired instrument design.

Early Martin 1-C Concert Mahogany ukulele. In original condition. Ukulele has not been re-finished, 12 frets to the body, action very good, neck straight, bridge tight & secure. The Martin concerts did not have serial numbers, however it is my understanding that with the very small dot fret markers, bar frets and decal, would place this instrument roughly from 1938 to early '40s. Plays very well. Is a canon for sound. Has some age-appropriate dings, dents and scratches for a ukulele of this age. Old professional repairs done to properly to close cracks with the time honored use of diamond shaped cleats to secure repair. This is a player’s player. No case. $45 shipping

Martin 1K sopranp- WWII Era- Hawaiian Koa
This Martin 1K was made during WWII, when Martin began using wood pegs again due to metal rationing for the war effort. Most likely made in 1944- the last year Martin made the 1K (in its original run). Could this be the very last 1K built by the original artisans of the Nazareth plant? Who's to say it isn't?
This ukulele is made of beautiful, figured Hawaiian koa, which has had 80+ years to break in. It is a sound CANNON and plays easily, with that classic, peerless, inexplicable Martin tone. How they get that much volume and rich tonal range from so small a box is beyond me. An exquisite player, it has a handful of scuffs and dings, as pictured (and as you might expect from an octogenarian), but no cracks, repairs or issues.
If you are not a fan of the original wood friction pegs, I will swap them out for a set of vintage barrel tuners (pictured) at the buyer's request.
Comes in a heavy-duty ProTec case which has scuffs of its own, but provides unbeatable protection.
Please reach out with any questions, and thanks for looking!
