Beginners - FREE Workshop - Dallas Tx
GREAT NEWS! We have had an "influx" of new members. Most of which have never strummed the instrument or who are guitar players and not familiar with the Uke.
This has presented a wonderful opportunity for "us" to pass on the joy of Ukulele.
If the above sounds like YOU, then this workshop was created with YOU in mind.
Learn to play with others of "like" skill sets. In a safe and nurturing environment.
While this workshop is "geared" towards "beginners", players of ALL skill levels are welcome to come and offer support.
WHO: The Workshop will be lead by none other than, Mark "Twang"
Levine, who is the creator and founder of Dallas Ukulele
Headquarters. Mark is self taught and has been playing for some 10
years. Known for his humor and Ukulele jokes, Mark really puts
the "FUN FACTOR" into learning Ukulele.
WHERE: We have a NEW LOCATION - in Carrollton, TX. Rawlings Custom Jewelry and Design. A jewelry store you might ask!? Well, you have to see the "space" to understand why we chose it. "Unique" is the word
that comes to mind.
The location is a private space - attached to the jewelry store yet
separate - a LARGE space with a gas burning Fireplace - AND the "fire will be burning". Back in the rear of the room is a bar. Did you really think we wouldn't be having fun at this workshop???
This means we will ALSO be having a FREE wine tasting with horderves.
Wine helps ease the nerves and opens our senses so we can more
effectively learn.
TIME: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
COST: There is no cost for this workshop. However, we ask that you purchase the book, Jumping Jim's Ukulele Tips "N' Tunes. This is the book that we will be using for our class. The book can be purchased via Noel Tardy - who is the Authorized Dealer for Dallas Ukulele Headquarters. The cost of the book is $ 14.95+ tax ($1.23) = $16.18. You can reach Noel via email at info@ukeladymusic.com . Please
contact Noel prior the workshop so that she can ensure that you will have a copy. She will make arrangements with you on delivery of the book.
WHAT TO BRING: Ukulele, kazoo, having your own tuner would be a plus, but not required. Music Stand (if you have one - not required)
If you don't have a kazoo we will have some available for you to
purchase at the workshop, prices range from $1.50 - $2.00.
SO, if you've never strummed, or are new to the instrument. Have
played the guitar but not so familiar with the Ukulele, this workshop is for you. Let Mark's passion for the Ukulele inspire YOU! But most of all, come and have FUN!

HAPPY 101st BIRTHDAY BILL...
San Pedro will once again celebrate the longevity and legend of Bill Tapia who, at 101, is the world's oldest performing musician! Tapia turned 101 January 1st of this year, and wants to share his good fortune with all of his friends and fans.
A virtuoso musician and thoroughly engaging entertainer on stage, Tapia has been delighting audiences with his jazz chops and sharp wit over the last nine decades. Chances are slim to none you'll find another entertainer anywhere in the world who can introduce a song as "something I learned during World War I" and then jump into his unique version of "Stars and Stripes Forever" which he came up with in 1918 at the age of ten...
Join Paniolo Productions and the Grand Vision Foundation on Saturday, February 28 for two inspiring back-to-back concerts. Tapia will perform with a few of LA's top jazz musicians and sing to beautiful Hawaiian dancers.
"As delightful as it is surprising... Tapia's 90-year career includes jams with long-gone pioneers of American music, including Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday and Fats Waller. ...Tapia takes his rightful place alongside these greats. He retains a sharp improvisational skill and capable instrumental ability..." BILLBOARD MAGAZINE
