Does anyone know where I can find Eartha Kitt's recording of Daddy? This is the one that begins with "Hey daddy, I want a diamond ring, bracelet everything..." I know she sang it but when I search for it, "My heart belongs to daddy" is the only one that comes up. The more well known versions done by Sammy Kaye and Julie London are easy to find, but I'd love to own the sex kitten version done by Miss Eartha.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I'd like to find that too. I looked and, so far, have not found it.

If we get really, really desperate, I know someone who can find it.

Sounds like "Santa, Baby". Don't know "Daddy".

Just in case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOMmSbxB_Sg

And Kittster, I do know the song you're talking about, but I don't see it on any of the Eartha Kitt CDs I looked at.

It's not a recording, but the fake sheet can be found in Hal Leonard's "The Best Fake Book Ever"

I believe "Daddy" and "Santa Baby" express similar sentiments, but they are two different songs. If I could hum a few bars for you, you would see the difference.

Several versions of "Santa Baby" can be found on YouTube, but no "Daddy".

The actual title is "Hey Daddy" - I think recorded by Sammy Kaye

OK: the song is "Daddy," a #1 hit for Sammy Kaye around 1941.

Checking the Eartha Kitt discography here:

http://www.google.com/musica?aid=mCJlEdxtsXP&sa=X&oi=music&ct=result

-- I don't find the song on any of her records. Over 200 titles listed, but "Daddy" not among them.

My memory is of the Julie London version. She did record the song, in a similarly sultry style. Here's a YouTube video of her singing it on the Jack Benny Show:

I know that, as you said, this version's pretty accessible, but it looks like Kitt's version hasn't made it onto any of the dozens of reissue recordings of her singing.
